Morgan & Weisbrod is proud to have sponsored the TangoTab Guinness World Record Attempt of “Most People Making Sandwiches Simultaneously.”
And We Are Excited to Announce That More Than 210,000 People Were Fed and a New World Record Was Confirmed
On February 27, 2016, 2,586 people simultaneously made sandwiches at the Dallas Convention Center. That was enough to take back the Guinness World Record for “Most People Making Sandwiches Simultaneously.” The mobile app TangoTab held the record in 2014, but that record was broken by another group in August 2015. Below is a recent history of the Guinness World Record in this category:
- Prior to 2014: 684 people simultaneously making sandwiches.
- February 2014: TangoTab brings together 1,363 to simultaneously make sandwiches.
- August 2015: Subway brings together 1,481 to simultaneously make sandwiches.
- February 2106: TangoTab shatters the previous record and brings together 2,586 people to simultaneously make sandwiches for the hungry.
More importantly, however, people who are in need of food directly benefited from this event. The sandwiches made on February 27 were for the benefit of The Bridge, The North Texas Food Bank, The Soup Mobile, and The Good Samaritans of Garland. While the world record event was held at 10:30 a.m., people gathered all morning to make sandwiches and to feed more than 210,000 people in our area.
TangoTab is a free app that you can use to find restaurants in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, Oklahoma City, San Diego, the Bay Area, and New York City. When you check in at a restaurant you found through TangoTab, the restaurant pays a fee to TangoTab and a portion of that fee is then donated by TangoTab to a local food charity that provides a meal to a person in need. So far, TangoTab has fed more than 1.3 million people.
Morgan & Weisbrod is honored to have been a sponsor for this important and fun event and we look forward to continuing to support our community in the future.
