The Houston Chronicle recently published an article highlighting the woes of a 94 year old disabled World War II Veteran who is stuck in the mire of the VA system trying to get additional benefits so that he can be cared for in a nursing facility. The article discusses the problems that WWII Veteran William Maxson has had in first, getting his disability benefits started and second, getting the VA to pay for his nursing home care. At this writing he is still waiting for the VA to review his claim. Currently in Texas, it takes an average of 200 days to get a decision and when you are a 94 year old Veteran, 200 days is just inexcusable.
