Social Security Disability May Help Ease the Finanical Stress

If you qualify for Social Security disability, you may receive monthly benefits that help alleviate the financial stress of being unable to work while you are sick. However, Social Security disability benefits are not automatically awarded even for serious conditions such as mesothelioma. Instead, you are going to have to apply for benefits and you are going to have to convince the Social Security Administration (SSA) that you qualify for such benefits.

Here’s How You Can Do It

Malignant mesothelioma of the pleura is included in Section 13.15 of the Listing of Impairments. You will need medical documentation, including medical test results and a doctor’s report, to establish that you have the condition and to provide evidence of the extent, type, and location of your cancer. If you fail to provide complete documentation or to fill out other parts of your application completely and accurately, the SSA may deny your application and you may not receive the benefits to which you are legally entitled.
