Your whole life changed in just an instant. One day you had a job and an income, and the next day you were hurt in a motorcycle crash that changed your life. Your injuries are permanent and there is no way that you will return to work.

Is Social Security Disability an Option for You?

If your motorcycle crash injuries have left you permanently disabled, you could qualify for Social Security disability benefits if your injuries are included in the Social Security Administration’s Listing of Impairments. Some possible impairments from a motorcycle crash include:

  • Spinal disorder (Section 1.04)
  • Amputation (Section 1.05)
  • Fracture of the femur, tibia, pelvis or a tarsal bone (Section 1.06)
  • Fracture of the upper extremity (Section 1.07)
  • Soft tissue injury (Section 1.08)
  • Cerebral trauma (Section 11.18)
  • Anxiety-related disorder (Section 12.06)
  • Any other condition for which you can satisfy a listing in the Listing of Impairments, prove that your symptoms and the effect on your ability to work is equal to that of a listing in the Listing of Impairments, or prove that you are unable to work.

Of course, whether or not you qualify and how you qualify will depend on the unique injuries that you suffered in the crash.

Regardless of Your Injuries There Are Some Things You Should Know

In order to prove that you are eligible for Social Security disability benefits you are going to have to get medical help, follow your doctor’s treatment plan, and complete a full and accurate Social Security disability application. The failure to do any of these things could result in a delay or denial of Social Security disability benefits.

If you need assistance with any part of the application, please give us a call. To learn more about your rights, please download a FREE copy of our book, Social Security Disability: What You Need to Know.
