The Social Security Administration’s Listing of Impairments describes which conditions the agency considers severe enough to prevent a person from working. It is important to know whether you have one of these conditions prior to applying for Social Security disability benefits.

Listing of Impairments for Adults (Part A)

The links below will take you to the Social Security Administration’s web site where you can learn more about how the SSA considers these impairments in adult claimants.

The conditions in each listing are regularly updated by the Social Security Administration. The Hematological Disorders listings, for example, were last updated in May 2015.

What If Your Medical Condition Is Not Included on This List?

If your disability is not included in the Social Security Administration’s Listing of Impairments, you may still be able to recover Social Security disability benefits. You will, however, need to prove that you are disabled. To learn more about your eligibility and about how to protect your rights, please start a live chat with our experienced attorneys today.
