Get WISE: The Work Incentives Seminar Events Program Explained

Although many disabled Americans want to return to work, many do not have the ability to do so because of their continuing health issues. However, some of those receiving disability benefits may feel ready to re-enter the workforce but have a number of questions and concerns about finding employment again:

• How will working affect my Social Security disability benefits?
• How will working affect my healthcare needs and benefits?
• How will working affect my disability or condition?
• Are there training opportunities for me if I need to enter a different field?
• Are there any programs or services that can help me get back to work?

The Social Security Administration (SSA) understands that it can be difficult to return to work after an illness, injury, or diagnosis – both because of your ongoing health concerns and because of your concerns about support, training, and health benefits. To help those considering work, understand what might be best for them, the SSA has developed Work Incentive Seminar Events (WISE).

Available both locally and online at no cost to attendees, Work Incentive Seminars aim to answer the above questions along with any other questions participants might have about the decision to work after an illness or with a disability. Part of the SSA’s Ticket to Work program, the WISE program is designed to be accessible and informative.
