Although many disabled Americans want to return to work, many do not have the ability to do so because of their continuing health issues. However, some of those receiving disability benefits may feel ready to re-enter the workforce but have a number of questions and concerns about finding employment again:
The Social Security Administration (SSA) understands that it can be difficult to return to work after an illness, injury, or diagnosis – both because of your ongoing health concerns and because of your concerns about support, training, and health benefits. To help those considering work, understand what might be best for them, the SSA has developed Work Incentive Seminar Events (WISE).
Available both locally and online at no cost to attendees, Work Incentive Seminars aim to answer the above questions along with any other questions participants might have about the decision to work after an illness or with a disability. Part of the SSA’s Ticket to Work program, the WISE program is designed to be accessible and informative.
The next online national WISE webinar takes place on December 21. Registration is free.
Are you unable to work due to a disability, such as a health condition, mental illness, or chronic health issue? You may need the support of Social Security disability benefits at this time.
