FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How can Morgan & Weisbrod help me with my Social Security Disability claim?

We can help you get the benefits you deserve by assisting you in all aspects of your claim. This may include representing you at administrative hearings and filing appeals in federal court. In preparation for your administrative hearing, we will explain what issues are most important and prepare you for the questions that the judge is likely to ask. If your case goes to federal court, we will do what is necessary, whether it is submitting written legal arguments or providing oral arguments. You need an attorney to do this for you. It is very difficult for a non-represented claimant to understand what issues are most important in these proceedings. Statistics show that disabled persons with attorney representation are much more successful than those who appear before the Social Security Administration without attorneys.

How much will this cost me?

We charge no fees unless we are successful. Once we commit to accept a Social Security Disability case, we pay all costs and only recover those costs if we are successful. Our fees are governed by the Social Security Administration and therefore we charge no more than 25 percent of your back benefits, if we are successful. Because the fees are set by the SSA, it will not cost you more to be represented by an experienced Social Security Disability attorney at our firm.

How are Social Security benefits calculated?

Our firm’s payment department exists solely to ensure the accurate payment of benefits to our clients. Many other law firms discontinue their services after you have won your case, but Morgan & Weisbrod continues to help clients even after claims are approved. We make sure that any benefits payable to you and your dependent children are computed and paid correctly. Many times, problems arise when a person collects Worker’s Compensation benefits and then is approved for Social Security benefits. We have considerable experience in this area and can help resolve these types of problems.

Will hiring Morgan & Weisbrod speed up my Social Security claim?

Although hiring an attorney will not speed up the claims process, Morgan & Weisbrod saves you time by doing the legwork for you. We monitor the status of your claim to be sure it is being processed properly and our staff of attorneys, paralegals, legal secretarial assistants and legal clerks is dedicated to keeping your claim running smoothly. We help you with the routine matters associated with your claim, such as filing your appeals in a timely manner and assuring the appeals are received and processed correctly by the Social Security Administration. Necessary tasks such as obtaining medical records, special reports, and interrogatories can be very burdensome to you, but they are routine for us. We can quickly and knowledgeably answer your questions about the Social Security disability process.
